both Class 1 and Class 2 Preliminary have an B Section open to all (i.e. neither you nor your horse need to be a member of British Dressage) and there are Novice to Elementary (and sometimes higher or Dressage to Music) classes - please see British Dressage Magazine or www.britishdressage.co.uk for further detail.
